The Work Monument to The Worker of The Sculptor Octavio Montoya. Vindicator of Memory
Abstract
El presente trabajo investigativo –en la modalidad de monografía– indaga sobre la vida del escultor antioqueño Octavio Montoya Estrada y su obra escultórica Monumento al Obrero ubicada en el municipio de Itagüí. Para este fin se estudia la vida del escultor y, además, se desentrañan las principales características del monumento bajo los parámetros de análisis establecidos por Erwin Panofsky y la revisión pre-iconográfica, iconográfica e iconológica de la obra; por otra parte, se explora en los conceptos de memoria, monumento, espacio público e intervenciones urbanas las cuales hacen parte esencial de esta pieza artística en particular.
Abstract
The present investigative work –in the monograph mode– investigates the life of Antioquia sculptor Octavio Montoya Estrada and his sculptural work Monument to the Worker located in the municipality of Itagüí. For this purpose the life of the sculptor is studied and, in addition, the main characteristics of the monument are unraveled under the parameters of analysis established by Erwin Panofsky and the pre-iconographic, iconographic and iconological revision of the work; on the other hand, it is explored in the concepts of memory, monument, public space and urban interventions which are an essential part of this particular artistic piece.
